Redwan & Raja Flame

Redwan was born in Kokrobite, Ghana into the musical family of Mustapha Tettey Addy (a renowned ghanaian drummer and the founder of The Obonu Drummers). His dad, also one of the founding fathers of Kpalogo. It is therefore very unsurprising that he developed his passion for music and singing at a very young age. He started singing in church as well as school. Reggae finally found him at a tender age and he’s never let go ever since. Icons like Fela Kuti, Capleton and Richie Spice inspired and influenced him on his personal musical journey. Another companion since those days is Raja Flame, Redwan’s “best friend”. His story sounds alike and their paths crossed when they started to sing at school’s organized shows in the 90`s. By that time Raja Flame was following his call for music too and listened to legends like Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaac and Beres Hammond. Together they realized that they have a unique style which they presented in the early 2000`s alongside soundsystems like Black Shanty and Jah Marcus. At the same time they were acting in TV series for different movie production companies in Accra (Venus Film Prod., Young Father Prod. and Farmhouse Prod.)

During the following years Redwan and Raja Flame did guest appearences for Jamaican artists performing in Ghana (Sizzla, Movado) and recorded an EP produced by Jahcoustix. Raja Flame aswell recorded the single “I want to be with you” for Jahcoustix. Redwan moved to Switzerland in the year 2010 and reunited with an old friend, Dj Flink whom he had already met in Ghana. They hit the studio in 2012 and by 2014 Dj Flink produced the EP Kokrobite by Redwan under his label Gideon Production. Four years later Raja Flame also moved to Switzerland. They have been inseparable since and found out later in 2023 that they’re actually bound by blood because they happen to be distant cousins. Their journey in Europe has led them on many different stages to mention a few; the Royal Reggae Festival in Zürich, Open Air St. Gallen, Hill Vibes in Austria and many other shows where they shared stages with artists like Shaggy, Fantan Mojah, Sister Nancy, Morgan Heritage, Gentleman, Gappy Ranks, I Wayne, Jr. Kelly and a lot more. They’ve also had the opportunity to work with producers like Max Rub A Dub and I.V.O. Redwan met Lifted Selection while performing at an open air festival. The sound system took an interest in him and he eventually became an artist of the sound and they toured extensively in and around Switzerland . Currently Redwan and Raja Flame are the original host/mc`s of Lifted Selection Sound. They’re both currently working on their next EP and pushing forward together on a live project backed by the Reggaegenerators.
